Match Report School vs Camp Hill Club - 5/02/2022

The Year 7’s started the game as they meant to go on with a fantastic showing of attacking rugby, scoring nice and early. They then backed this strong start up with a quality defensive showing, not letting the club get over our try line till the victory was well and truly guaranteed. Jia Le Chen, Rafe Sullivan, Alex Innocenti, Zak Khalid put in outstanding defensive performances, while the like of Bashier Said, Ollie Smoldon, Seb Robotham and Mushaf Mir pulled the strings in attack. Some excellent phases of rugby paired with a sturdy defence, led us to victory over the club. Well done to everyone single person involved for reforming once again this season!

The year 8 boys were keen to right the wrongs from their loss to Camp Hill Club earlier in the season. With a full strength squad, the boys were ready and prepared. The school started brightly, with a fantastic team try finished off Zidanne Ahktar as well as a superb individual effort from Adam Bashir who pulled off an outrageous show and go dummy before showing great pace to finish under the posts.

Camp Hill Club came back into the game, with some powerful running from their sizeable forwards. The school showed enormous courage and resilience in defence from the hard hitting Lemuel Adjei, Hassan Malik and the tenacious Mauwiyah Abdi.

The schools threat in attack proved too much for the Club, with several superb tries from Joel Fletcher and Lemuel Adjei leading the school to a fantastic 30-20 victory.

Man of the Match was Lemuel Adjei for his outstanding all round performance.

The Year 9 and 10 teams had two enjoyable encounters. Matthew Ransbotyn was the stand out players for the Year 10s who unfortunately fell to a 31-19 defeat in a fierce contest. Christy Biju and Malachi Powell also got their names on the team sheet.

The final contest of the days was the highly anticipated match between Camp Hill 1st XV and the Camp Hill Colts. An unbelievable encounter ended with Emile Nguiessy running 50m, beating numerous defenders to win the game for the school 41-36. Try scorers for Camp Hill; Emery Uzoma 2, Emile Nguiessy 2, Sam Satodia, Sam Ankrah and Joe Day all scored one a piece. Man of the match was Omar Ismail who was simply outstanding at number 8.

All of this means that the school take home the Mike Roden Trophy! Thank you and well done to all involved.
